Not sure if true or not but I heard a story of a man who won the mega in the US, something like $100M. Picked up all kinds of bad habits from gambling to drugs to extravagant spending. Several members of his family and extended family was kidnapped, killed and even toxicated by drugs. Needless to say, the man and his family not only end up broke but in debt, jobless, messed up credit and an absolute cluster****.

Yeah I heard about this story. He ended up broke and in debt and his daughter or something ended up addicted to drugs and then she was found murdered. Most people who win the lottery end up broke because they don't know how to manage money properly.

In fact, most people who make little money and then end up getting paid a lot of money in a short period of time end up that way. It's a huge problem with professional athletes. The espn 30 for 30 documentary "broke" covers it really well, especially because it ends up being way more than just a documentary about broke athletes. It's almost like an indictment of runaway capitalism and modern society and whatnot.

So I had a software selling business that generated about $200k before I sold it to go to University. I sold it for another $50k USD (most of the potential customers were already acquired). The money was supposed to go towards paying for University and living costs...

I start thinking of ways to increase the $250k. Forex seemed like the best way to go, I told myself it's not gambling at all, it's "investing". $25k of losses later, I quit Forex (for a week, then I started doing it again and lost another $15k before quitting for real).

So I smartly thought to myself, "If Forex isn't going to do it, maybe sports betting will!". I started off a winner with about $10k profit from various bets on football(the real thing, not America's armoured eggball carrier version). I put it all on one bet to make another $10k. I was so close, I bet there would be less than 3 goals in a game. It's the 89th minute, only one goal was scored to this point, I start celebrating... 90th minute: GOAL... Referee decides to add 5 minutes of over time...In the 5th minute of OT...GOAL... I lost.. I was now depressed and wanting to make it all back. I took a break from gambling and vowed to never waste money on chance again.

Two days letter I had deposited $5000 to pokerstars. I was going to learn to play poker and make all my losses back. I lost the full $5000 because I was 100% a fish with no clue what I'm doing (you're welcome).

I then tried Forex again. I'm in full loss chasing mode. I end up losing another $25k on Forex, sports, and poker. I no longer have enough money to pay for four years of University..

I stop gambling with big amounts and just start playing small. The losses continue to add up, but I don't notice, since it's so "small"..

I'm able to survive and complete three years of University (after borrowing money from a wealthy family member...).

Now, I have graduated, started working full time, and I am still a gambler just as much as before. No lessons learned, except that I really don't learn from lessons.

And yes roulette is the worst. Always did much better with the Asian card games for some reason but blackjack and roulette I always lose

Baccarat is the only game I literally haven't even ever broke even on. I hate it. Was literally on like full degen yelling mode betting 10-20 bucks a hand while there's all these Chinese guys better several hundred.

I feel like my life is becoming a degen story. A few weeks back I went to parx casino for a high hand bonus day the promotion was extra juicy that day like $1000 every 30 minutes. I get there and realize I forgot but I self excluded in all of Pennsylvania a few years back and that includes all in the state. I decide maybe they don't really know and I will just ask for a players card. If approved and I get one then I'll play poker. Well they not only don't give me one they calls cops and I get citation. Then I decide to drive to Delaware park 30 more miles as not banned there. I play a tournament and go out to play slots on the first break. I hit for $300 off of $20. Go back to tourney and end up being the bubble boy losing with k8 clubs aipf against 67 diamonds. So I keep playing slots video poker and lose that 300. I try another 1000 at pai gow and 3 card poker. Lose that. 1000 at roulette like 200 a spin. Lose again. I end up losing 4300 and my fine for trespassing was 200. A few days later I lose $300 at baccarat. Then yesterday playing poker and just feeling tilted but wasn't losing just tired and bored. I sit at baccarat tell myself just one hand. Lose like 4 in a row and down 500. Bet $400 next hand banker had 6 player 5 but players 3rd card a 7 bringing him down to 2. But I have to draw again now and it's a 4 I lose. I threw the card and yelled son of a bitch! Mf ER! Of course I didn't quit and now down 1700 yesterday too. So like 7000 on casino last 2 months. i only wish it was fake. I been a long time big gambler. I was straightflucked here, but changed my name and said I would change my ways too. I was going to just play poker. I lost at least 15-20k this year in casinos. I hate it and plan to quit now for good.

Deposited £75 onto poker site and ran it to £1560 playing HU plo moving up every time i had enough to short stack the stake above . Rang another mate to tell him i was gonna send him the £1500 i owe him but was just gambling the £60 first.

Jumped onto the blackjack turned the £60 into around £480 and decided ill send my mate £2000 instead and get him to give me some cash to go the casino tonight. Obviously i couldn't win another £20 to get to £2000 so went broke over the next 2hours.

Turned my phone off and went to bed. The next day use my player points to get £10 span it up to £720 on a mixture of BJ and HU plo. Sat someone at £5/10 got stacked my first hand of set over set lol
