I have a good story from last night. I self excluded from casinos in PA a few weeks ago after losing my **** at BJ.

However, I continued going to various casinos in the state over the last few weeks to play poker. I know if I got caught the worst that would happen is I'd get a citation and sent on my way. I also knew that I wasn't eligible for any promotions the various rooms were offering but didn't really care because what are the odds of winning one anyway, right? Well last night I was up about $300 on the session at $1/$2 and was racked up getting ready to leave. I get pocket sevens and raise in LP to $12. I got one caller and flop quads about a minute before the high hand hour ends. I win like $40 in the pot and foolishly flip my hand over. The people at the table are excited for me but I look upset. I end up telling them I don't have my ID and probably won't be getting the money.

An older lady at the table suggests that I go to the front desk and talk to them which I do. For some dumb reason i give the guy my license. to my surprise everything seems to be going well and he even says, "ok, let me go get your money from the cage." At this point, I'm excited and thinking about going over to the casino floor and playing BJ.

The floorman goes over to the cage and right away I can tell I'm not getting the money. I think he actually saw that I was on the list and tried getting me the money anyway but the people at the cage weren't playing along. Eventually security gets called over and escorts me to the the security office. One of them keeps asking if I have any chips or vouchers on me. I said no as I had already cashed out earlier. He says "we need to confiscate any money on you." I reach into my pocket and take out the money. I actually thought about taking out some of it but thought it would be better to just play this thing straight and GTFO. They take the $400 off me.

This morning I get an email at like 6:20AM from the PGCB asking if I would like to look into treatment plans. LOL.

Sorry for the beat story, just thought it was funny in an aspect of "don't rack up before you're really leaving." aspect.

TL;DR: Self-excluded ****** loses $800 by flopping quad 7's.

I created an account to post this because i need to put this out somewhere.

So basically, my whole life is a degen story. It all started when I took a year off after high school to work and make money. At this time I was also playing $1/2 NL at my local casino. I was running pretty well and ended up being something like $3000+ on the year.

I started going to school for engineering and my savings started dropping due to college funds, etc... but I still wanted to crush the retirees at the casino. The lowest game at the casino was 1/2 so I couldn't drop to a lower take without playing online- which i didn't like because I would end up blowing my whole roll in one night playing HU hypers (degen life). I continued to play 1/2 at the casino, making and losing some money here and there- then i discovered the BJ tables. I had always liked blackjack, going to the casinos with friends on weekends and dropping like $100 on the tables and being pissed off. I started studying blackjack more and more and every time we went to the casino I would find my friends all putting their bets on me like I was some type of "blackjack god".

The problem at my casino is that they don't tend to open many tables of poker for some reason so there is always a very long waiting list to play. My time waiting would mainly be spent playing(losing) blackjack. This was a constant pattern until I found myself dead broke. I had a credit card with $3500 limit which I proceeded to max out by taking out cash advances to play poker and bj.

Most nights were spent crying and pounding on the steering wheel on the drive home wondering how I'm going to survive on $20 for the rest of the week until i get my measly paycheck (was working part time at a grocery store). Then it came to me- I'll apply for some student loans. I ended up getting about $1900 in student loans which I brought to the casino with me as soon as I received it. (I was calling the loan dept. every day to see when it would arrive) I decided it was a good idea to play the 2/5 game so I could make my money back quicker, and guess what happened. I ran so bad and played so tilted that I ended up losing the whole $1900 loan in about 3 hours. I was so mad/dizzy/sick I walked to the customer service desk holding back tears and asked if there was a way I could be banned from the casino. She picked up the phone and started talking to someone and 10 mins later a man in a suit came down and brought me past security into a strange room. He took a couple pics of me, scanned my i.d and BAM! I was banned for 3 months (self exclusion program).

I started to calm down thinking it was all going to be over soon, I was wrong. After one month I couldnt stand it anymore. I decided I would go to the casino and when they I.D me (im only 20, live in canada) if they said anything about me being banned that I would tell them that I thought I was only banned for one month. I went to the casino so nervous- but ended up getting in!! I couldn't play poker because you needed your casino card to play and they would scan mine and see that I was banned, but I could play blackjack. I proceeded to go every week and lose my paycheck plying blackjack, and I started craving poker.

I came up with a brilliant idea! I would go up to the poker cage, tell them my girlfrind had my wallet with my i.d cards and casino cards and I only had cash. I had a friend who kind of looked like me who played there too so I would give them his information and play under his name. It worked!!!! I proceeded to go to the casino every day with a low brimmed hat, telling them the same story how my gf had my wallet and I only had cash but I could give them my information (my friends of course).

I was having a blast until I started getting calls from my bank for my maxed out card OH ****! I avoided all calls because I had no money to pay and also didnt want to. They started taking my paycheck every week which was direct deposited into my bank account to pay off my credit card so I have NO money.

So right now I am living at my mom house working part time going to school with no money, playing freerolls on stars.

Thanks

quit gambling you are a terrible gambler

you are ganna end up a degen loser if you continue down this path
and be a burden to your mom

get a job go to school pay off debt save money
read poker books

if you were beating 1/2 ( which i doubt) and can't win 2/5 stay at 1/2 and be a shark then be a fish

don't play blackjack if you don't count cards
play baccarat instead (no need to doubledown hit stay etc so variance is way lower) you literally pick red or blue and hope it wins

i know it pains you to hear this but trust me its for your own good
you got a degen demon problem and you don't make enough to support it
focus your efforts on making $ without gambling

I got the quad 7s beat, my 4 aces video poker $5 game jackpot for $1200, well I got a worthless slip of paper now. My friend wont even try to cash it in ( i gave his name when i won and yes im self excluded also) but the other info ss number, address, and date birth I made up. He is afraid he will get banned also, and he might be right. I offered him a 600/600 split and he still said now. Well, i knew i was banned and should have at least stuck to poker and card table games without big jackpots. Listen to the advice, dont gamble and end up like me, working two jobs and still going broke sometimes

BTW i started around age 21 (that was legal age where i used to live) and am turning 36 soon. Its a long term habit once you start, I wish i got into a hobby like becoming a ER doctor instead, lots of excitement, money, and not many bad beats, well unless you get sued!

Well at least you were smart enough not to try to cash in and hand someone your license. Me doing that was just beyond dumb. I kept thinking that if I hit the BBJ I would just muck and laugh. I guess when I won the high hand though my greed and optimism peaked. I'm going to be going to Delaware Park now. Nice place.

One way to look at it is that the guy who gave you the bad beat is probably dead, if that's an upside. We've all been sucked out on and silently wished that the offender's house burned down while they slept that night. I guess ER docs don't have that mega tilt rage that comes from J4o cracking your AA...

and with all the money, you could degen it up in Vegas a couple times a year on an epic scale...

this whole doctor thing looks better and better the more I think about it.

i went on a epic heater at the 1/1 table a few weeks ago. One hand with J4 i remember well. I raise to 4, guy repops to 16, 2 callers, I hesitate, but already up 500, i decide why not and call. Flop is J4K. I check, 1 more check, raises to $40, 1 call, back to me. I say well im kinda committed, then call. other dude folds. 3 way to turn, and its a 4!!! Check again, other guys all in, one fold, i of course call. He had AK, i had row row row your boat!
how could you call with J4 of course he says? I look him dead in the eye and say? Do you know what J4 is used for? He look puzzled. To change a flat tire bro~! lol

what is a j4? to change a flat tire!
Had a nice session tonight. Up $80 quick on a slot, then up to $200 on baccarat. 4 ties in a row, hit last 2 of them. So then i play some nickel slots get 10 straight flush for $5 lol and degen away $50 on penny slots too. Back to baccarat to recoup, i bet $50 on banker, $7 on pairs, i get 22 for $84 on the pair bet, and win the hand with 4>3. Up 200 and left. Nice to lock up small win even, the degen rolls on baby!

Straight I like reading your posts but this made me sad man. Living paycheck to paycheck on two jobs, ducking your wife to sneak off to the casino and drink+gamble. Man what kind of life are you living, and heading towards in the future? Also probably having to hide the kind of person you are around friends and family, as they don't know about your degen ways. Constantly makes you feel like two different people. It's one thing if your in your early 20's but man, age sneaks up on you quickly. I really hope good things are to come for you in the future but you're just not putting yourself in a very opportunistic position for that to happen. No disrespect man, I've got my own internal struggles and we all do. Best of luck friend.

I would suggest SF12 takes up golf as it can become a fun hobby and take up all the spare time for the casino... But he will get semi decent at the game and start compulsively gambling on it like Michael Jordan but with a worse edge against other players than he has against the casino. In the end it would be worse for him than what's going on now.

Haha this is probably true, although you need rich friends/ acquaintances to gamble for big bucks on the course. Plus, generally us degens like to spend the evenings in the casino, so it doesn't exactly eliminate the problem. Unless of course you live in Singapore as I do and the courses have floodlights to play at night.

Within Singapore it can certainly get punchy. Generally my friends and I book tee times in Bintan or Batam, both islands in Indonesia, about a 45 minute ferry ride away, or drive up to Malaysia. That being said, if you're looking to play on the weekends don't expect to find much for under $140 sing....Quality of courses is actually not that bad, and there are some gems you can find. Plus maintenance is usually pretty good...
