the synth sounds great and the vocals don't clip in this version like they did in original, but the vocals are pretty low in the mix.

They should definitely scrap the national anthems at the WSOP bracelet ceremony and make Bing Blang Blaow the international poker anthem.

I don't know. I like the levels. The vocals are the hardest part to mix. I tried to make them comfortable for car stereos AND headphones. And it sounds really good on my computer set up.

I thought that too at first, but after a few listens, the volume level works really well. The song sounds particularly good on amp driven headphones, and has plenty of body even without an amplifier (i.e. rolled off bass frequencies).

Some of the quietness in the singing is due to the fact that it pans cyclically, but that helps with the stereo imaging, and gives the singing a bit of an ethereal quality as it flows in and out. The improved synth is probably part of the reason why the singing doesn't feel like it's at the front of the mix anymore. I wasn't really thinking about counterpoint when I belted out the notes in two takes, but the fade in/out effects on the singing really adds emphasis to the minor chords... an essential element of gangsta rap. I'm particularly proud of the strings notes I chose as drones. I do like how the rap interjections in the choruses lean forward in the mix. For what it's worth, the singing stands out more in the subsequent refrains than the first, allowing the synth sequence to establish itself.

Kind of a tangent but I love music that plays around with note interactions and soundscapes with reverb. If you've ever played Super Mario 64 and are familiar with the water level theme, I made a (also pretty lo-fi) guitar cover of it a while ago.
