Brag: Inherited a decent sum of money ... Nuff' said (will invest, fix car, etc.).

But the inheritance raises an interesting question for poker players:

Would you use a substantial bequest from a dearly departed loved one for poker? Assume you are a SSNL regular and the amount of the bequest is around 50k ... and you have no credit card debts, student loans, etc.

Thoughts? How would you spend/allocate the dough?

after all necessities are paid for, investments are made etc. i believe that said money should be used however you want it to. the money was inherited and whoever it was that died (sorry about your loss btw) would most likely want you to spend it however you want, after said necessities are taken care of.

in all honesty i think that if i were on a ~1k wad i would take 5-10k and put it into poker and no more (make yourself say that is the limit). invest the rest in an index or other fund. just dont blow it. investing just 35-40k of it is easily a monster piece of your retirement in 30-40 years assuming your a young guy.
