It's a flight case. Have you never heard of a flight case for other things? It's so you can check your 30" monitor as luggage and not have it break. I can use this + my laptop to work on. I do a lot of traveling so this is way necessary.

It's so expensive because it has to be custom made. There is no standard Dell 30" flight case. If there was, the cost might be a few hundred cheaper.

The problem isn't so much the cost of buying a new 30" as the time lost. At several thousand per day in poker loss every day I'm without the 30" it's very much worth the investment. I've had monitors break in carry-ons that I thought were well secured, let alone trying to pack a 30" in a suitcase that I have to check. This was pretty much a no brainer for me.

Because I can play on a laptop + 30"?

Do you have a 30"? I'm used to two 30"s when I'm at home and going from all that space to one 17" laptop and trying to 8-12 table is just a pain in the ass.

I have a Sager NP9262. I think they run around $3k or so. It has a Dual-Link DVI port. I believe the higher end Dell XPS laptops can support it as well.

They can? My XPS 1530 has both a VGA and a HDMI port, but I doubt it can run a 30".
