Scottyy I'm so glad you enjoyed my post. Since I'll get flamed no matter what, I have some observations/inquiries that have fascinated me quite a bit recently:
I find it amazingly coincidental that Elky wins 2 WCOOP bracelets within days of each other, and WHOA HO amazingly enough the week he is featured prominently for the WSOP ME coverage. 1 bracelet with 1,000+ players then the next with 9,000+ players. I've seen many of the hands this "great" player shoved with and it's AMAZING how these held up or he sucked out. Do you have any idea the level of improbability this is that he could win both of these online within days of each other with these fields?? I KNOW the flamers will say "Elky's great you're a moron RH go to hell' but I find it VERY interesting indeed.
I also find it AMAZING that carter king wins the ME of WCOOP ME 2008 then WOW wins the Sunday Million only months later!!! Yes flamers, I am sure it's just 'skill' yet again... right sure
Wait there's more Terence Chan winning TWO SCOOP bracelets on the same day and WHAT DO YOU KNOW he used to WORK for PokerStars!!! Wait wait I know he's a great limit player right that's the ONLY reason right
I am sure Vanessa Rousso being runner up to the WCOOP in 2007 ME is just SKILL as well.
It's amazing the # of coincidental things that occur on said site. But I am sure having a 'cool' successful live player (note Elky's online SNG stats for some related online comparisons) to market as a COOL.EUROPEAN.BALLER. will bring in more $$$ for PokerStars. Or having Vanessa Rousso be successful wouldn't be helpful to have as she has assets others do not.
And yes flamers I know of Elky's live success in the Stars Caribbean Adventure, high rollers, and Rousso's as well but it's well known that online events while they have bad players, they are harder generally. Am I to believe that skill ALONE is what helps these people win??
And finally, I am sure Yevgeniy "Jovial Gent" Timoshenko will be contacted soon for a Stars sponsorhip. Another amazing coincidence... WPT main event and now WCOOP ME 2009
Why do I mention this in this thread? I just can't help but WONDER if Stars will do ANYTHING to market their company, whether it's bending the rules of a promotion that they help start (Boku 2) or bending results to their favor. And if ANYTHING is being done, if you aren't on the winning team, why suit up to play any more when it's nearly impossible to win??
Just a thought, flame away, I expect to get bashed hard for this and I welcome it.
