This made me think about how Online Poker really was back in the day. To be more specific, how Online Poker was back when I started and what I did myself.

So here goes:

Having watched "Superstars of Poker", a televised tournament where every player had a rather short starting stack and the structure was really bad, forcing the players to go all-in with mediocre holding all the time, I figured I could do all the pushing all-in the pros did as well, so I put $300 into Betfair. This was back in January 2006. Within a day or so, I sat at a heads-up table at NL50. I have to admit that I was slightly confused by the fact that I couldn´t just go all-in every hand. Needless to say, I got slaugthered. It took me about an hour to lose $200. Now clearly this was all about playing a cash game. I mean, I had seen a tournament after all. So I took the obvious step and put my remaining $100 into a heads-up SNG. Within 5 minutes or so, I was all-in for the rest of my chips and didn´t manage to suck out with my 55.

I can only imagine how soft Poker must have been back then if a clueless idiot like myself would put $300 onto a Poker site and instantly sit in games/at stakes he had zero chance of winning in. What I did was pretty silly, but I would imagine that many people did similar things back then.

What´s the silly stuff you did during your first week of Online Poker?

I started playing on zynga poker. I used to play every hand that could make a straight and had a picture card in it. I was a loose maniac

I started on Europoker for play money, and probably did all kinds of silly stuff. But as it was for play money, I don't remember.

Hey guys, I got a funny story I wanna share. I made a small deposit of 20$ on Stars recently with corona isolation. I was usually getting out of the tournaments with all in preflop with be best hand, struggling to reach top payout. My game was improving, making 1/3 itm or more. Today I registered to 2 tournaments, a 3.30 and a 4.40. I went out on the 3.30 and was down to 5bbs after I got sucked out in a 3bet pot with aces, a fish called my 3bet with 39s, flop 39K, all the chips went in. I was prepared to quit poker for good, blaming Stars of being rigged and withdraw my 50$ bankroll. But I kept playing. I ran so hot, like Aa, ak, aq, aa in a row, two 4 of a kind, etc. I got a to a huge stack, 80-100bb even though the blinds were increasing, I was chips leader all late in the tournament, having at times 2.5-3x the stack of next player. I pushed people around because they were waiting for pay jump. I finished the tournament first, 1616$. I'm so proud, I was 70-80$ minus on Stars, although I knew I was a decent player with many years of experience but took huge breaks. Now I have a bankroll to play with.
Biggest cash yet. Wanted to share with you.

I was playing play money poker and quickly won 1400 in play chips. I told my cousin who knew nothing about poker if i was playing real money i would have won $1400 Usd. He was pretty impressed

I remember playing carbon poker and I took my last $25 to a HUSNG and I chased a gutshot to the river and hit it. That guy must have been so pissed lol. I ended up running it up to like 250 and I cashed out and bought my first smartphone
