Played poker for the first time in 5 months as I was out of the country, and Greece has a less than developed poker community. The result was playing like ultimate ****. Limping unopened pots, calling off half my stack with bottom two when the tightest person at the table shoves a KJ10 flop. It was like not playing had flipped my full ****** poker doomswitch to on.

Anyone else encounter anything like this when coming back from a break?

Thread Savers(I know they are needed)

I play better after a short 2-3day break. Poker seems more simple imo. If I play everyday for 15 days for example, my game gets super autopiloty and I find myself leveled into making incorrect hero calls/bluffs etc.

5 months is too long on the other hand. That will take deliberate practice, and a few 30 hour weeks before I am back to normal. Also, i would recommend lowering the number of tables you play. The game changes every 5 months. Online poker is amazing.

Ever since I went on a $175K upswing followed by a $100K downswing in sports betting, I am literally unable to play poker. I will look down at 82o in the BB, can't wait to fold that ****, waiting for someone to raise, and when someone does raise a measly 3x BB, I will just flat hoping to flop 2 pairs+. When I flop bottom pair, I will either bluff big at it or call a bet hoping to spike a 5-outter.

If the PFR is more than 3BB, say 5BB, I will reshove for 100BB to try and take this down and end the hand right there. And if I get called, I always have an outside chance of getting lucky.

That is a really cool story bro......but, not to be rude, WTF has it got to do with playing after a break? I can understand how after going on a degen sports bet swong can **** up your gambling perspective.
That said, I liked the pictures of your cash bricks, Canadian money has pretty pictures.

^gambling problem?

never been away from poker for 5 months, but like 2-3 and only bad thing that's happening to me after that is that I get super tight (no, not all girls are tight:P) and suspicious and scared of everything. takes an hour or so before I'm confident and "back". :]
but I wouldn't do anything I wouldn't have x months ago though. like open limping or something ridic.

Never take a break as long as I did. It is like someone else is playing in your skin. I mean, I spent the break on a Greek Island on the Aegean sea, so that alleviates the suffering somewhat. I think the fact that I was totally cut off from the game entirely effected me a lot as well, I didn't even talk about poker at all when I was on vacation.
On a totally unrelated note, I would never assume all girls are tight, it just ends up disappointing me.

I'd rather spend 5 months on a greek island than play poker. :P u'll be back in no time, I'm sure. idk if u play professionally or not but u could always go down a limit or two and build ur confidence/get back in the game. :]

I was playing 30 hours a week, mostly 2-5 and occasionally 5-10, but the rooms where I live rarely spread 5-10. I wouldn't call myself a professional though because I have an actual job that allows me to live just as unencumbered lifestyle as playing poker, but has 0 variance(not so subtle Brag).

Thanks for the tip though, dropping down to 1-3 for a week or so would probably be +ev until I am myself again.

Go to the Island of Thassos and the city of Alexandropoli, both awesome.

I'm sorry, I thought OP meant to ask what things affect your game to a point where you can't "ride a bicycle" anymore.

Try drinking good juice before your long sessions bro.

I hope I don't encounter this.. I have to go away to DOC boot camp for 6 months starting January 1st and when I come back I hope to still be crushing the games I play.
