The majority of serious poker players ran good to start. Otherwise they would have just believed poker was rigged and quit. So likely you ran really good to start and likely now you are running bad, but it's probably not as bad as you think it is. Review sessions with friends who are honest (who aren't just gonna be like "oh yeah you're great every hand you lose is all bad luck" but will actually be like "yo wtf is this ****?") and decent at poker. Even if it's because of the runbad, most people I know (including myself) when they downswing are a combo of run bad and play bad. Make sure it's not the play bad. All you can do about the run bad is just keep playing.

I've always been really lucky at poker - always seem to outdraw people. Whenever I have a bit of a downturn I spike a tourno score and it turns things around.

Get it in behind more, it's fun

this pretty much. Also i think variance in poker is just unfathomable. When you run the numbers you can see just how easy it is for a big winner to break-even/lose over a seemingly large sample size.

This. In the same vein it's also the serious winning players that see the truly bad runs as they have the bankroll and levelheadedness to plow through it. Even the good winning recreational players wouldn't bother fighting through a 50 buyin downer where you're 100 buyins below EV, or some other similar circumstance.

This is actually a pretty decent and interesting thread. I had to double check I really was browsing BBV. Atm I'm facing the worst stretch/slight downswing i ever had, this thread is somewhat helping.. thanks you
