playing 2/5nl effective stacks $1k.

Villain was a 40 something wannabe Sopranos poser super cocky ego-maniac angle shooter that just thought of himself as awesome, running over the table and shooting all the fish with his angles, his favorite angle was to grab his stack of chips and aggressively move the chips forward out of turn as if he's going to bet. He'd cross the line with them and put them WAY out over the pot and then say, "Oh, thought you were going to bet, sorry" and then he'd pull his chips back. Obviously, the fish would then check and he'd just check back.

He did this all night long.

The stack he'd do this with had 2 white chips on top of it, white chips are $100 chips at this casino.

So, fast forward a bit, I pick up KQ in LP and raise $30, Villain calls from the BTN, everyone else folds.

Flop($60) J T 4

I reach for chips and villain grabs his stack and shoves them way forward over the line into the pot, holding them in his hand, and then gives me his poker stare.

So I announce, "I raise that by $300, dealer can I get a count".

The look on his face turns to horror and he quickly retracts the chips and says, "Chips are in my hand, its not a bet".

I then say, "Forward motion is binding in this casino and that constitutes forward motion, out of turn bets are also binding here and so I raise your out of turn binding forward motion bet, everything in your hand now has to stay in the pot. Dealer, can I get a count."

Villain is yelling, "I never took my hands off the chips so its not a bet"

The floor comes over and rules in my favor.

Villain is disgusted, he had $260 in his hand. I make it $560.

He turns beet red and says, "F---k it I'm all in."

I snap call. And by now we've drawn a crowd

Turn($4k) 3

River($4k) 9

Villian turns his cards over, 87 and says, "got you ya muthaf--er" and starts laughing, "That's what you get."

I let him enjoy the moment while I shake my head and say, "I don't believe it".

Villain continues to rant, "Yep, don't F with da boss."

I keep saying "I don't believe it, I don't believe it..."

Villain continues to celebrate until I say, "I don't believe I've got... DA NUTZ" and I table my hand.

The table goes nuts. Villain launches into a series of F you and F this place.

was that from Rounders2 or Casino Royale?

Also, I catch an angle shooter with this about once a month or so but this is the first time I included the slow roll.

It made it extra delicious.

exactly what I was wondering. Every dealer all night long didn't know the rule and let him get away with not betting? Seems a bit unlikely.

But actually I had the very same situation happen a couple of nights ago. The villain was really steaming at me. But then my alarm went off and I woke up.

Agree with these two posters. I don't believe this story for a second. If he was doing it all night, the dealer would have called him up on it. Where I play, it doesn't matter if the other players call it or not, if the chips go over the line or the intention is made, then it's binding.

The story would have made more sense if he was using different angles all night, and then tried this one only to run into big bad you.
