Hi.

I don't know much about camcorders but I am interested in purchasing one. The person who links me and gives me a brief summation about the specs of the camcorder they linked me to I will ship them $5 on stars.

Things I'm looking for:

-Decent enough quality
-Long battery life (3-4 hours)
-Big memory card (8+ hours)
-Should come with equipment that I can use to plug into my computer so I can put the video files onto my computer and then play around with it to make movies
-Reasonably light / small
-Less than $1k

Thanks

So sick, have this and it's beautiful and the battery lasts forever along with the 32 gigs of memory.

Panasonic HDC-TM300 Camcorder - 1080i - 3.05 MP - 12 x optical zoom

http://www.google.com/products/catal...&os=tech-specs

-32 GB flash memory (long enough for multiple money shots)
- Direct print, USB 2.0 compatibility, touch-screen control, built-in speaker, backlight compensation, DPOF support, PictBridge support, Dolby Digital 5.1 channel recording, takes photos while movie recording, automatic face tracking technology, face detection

basically this camera is the nuts.

Good suggestions, are there any that are a tad cheaper but still pretty good? I'm still hesitant to dump like $900 onto my first camcorder.

This but you're not going to have as good of a picture quality as the $900 or quite as long battery life, but I got this one for my mom for x-mas. However, there is a higher storage capacity on it.

(although the quality looks standard and not HD).

from a review. It really is you get what you pay for. See the camera as an investment, youll be much happier when you have sharper hd images, etc

Ya, that's a good deal and a sick camera SDHC is easily upgradeable go to bestbuy and buy an 80 gig so you rarely have to delete videos and the memory card just pops out to a read that hooks up to your comp via usb so transferring is a cinch. Newegg comes through again.
