7-handed 25-50 game

V1: Huge fish, the main reason the game is going. Limps and cold calls 70% of hands pre. Rarely bets/raises with complete garbage (he'd rather call with it).

V1 limps UTG, all fold to me on button, I raise Q9 on the button, blinds fold.

Heads up to flop

Flop: 4 5 7

V1 check, I check

Turn: 9

V1 leads, I?

I like the flop check.

I would raise the turn. I think this could be the rare time he bets garbage. He has no reason to believe you will bet the turn. He has a wide range which could include worse pairs, flush draws, straight draws or worse, just hoping to take it down. I think you can comfortably fold to a 3 bet.

Raise turn and how you respond to a three-bet depends on UTG's post-flop tendencies.

I would call twice no matter what comes.

What are villain's postflop tendencies? If he is the one you're eating off of, I would think you'd be paying attention to his play more than anyone else's.

If he just stabs at every pot when in position raiser checks back HU, and then barrels river, you could call turn and raise many rivers. His propensity to 3 bet turn is a consideration, but I'd think we'd at least want to raise turn. Calling twice misses too much value against many hands that will b/c w worse. Fun players see people xb and think its a license to steal.

Call turn to raise a lot of rivers

R/f turn. Calling is hoping that he value bets twice with a weak pair, or barrels with a draw. I don't think either is that likely. Your also not getting three bet by anything you have outs against.

Villain sounds very simple, hence why you can raise-fold.

In general, you want stronger hands to check back this flop with

Based on read that villain rarely bets garbage, what reason do we have to believe that he'd start doing this now? Probably has a pair, is emboldened to bet it because you checked rag flop.

I can't imagine most villains would fold a pair to this line on this board, nor can I imagine most villains three betting with a hand that doesn't have Q9 in terrible shape.

Waiting until the river to raise could cost a bet when he's just betting the turn with a club because you checked back the flop and the 9 isn't supposed to be scary

Also misses value from hands like 64 that's betting the turn because he thinks it's the best hand and calling the raise because wtf can you possibly have.

Raising turn is just so much better than delaying until the river in this spot.

Raise turn and bet most rivers. You should not call a 3bet.

easy turn raise.

I like a delay cbet here if he isn't the type to bluff much after a checkback. Could also consider checking all the way down but I'd prefer to have something like a medium Khi for that line.
