Yeah, I volunteered for Seattle too.

Was the incoming number "unavailable" when you talked to him? I got a couple of those calls last night, but when I answered the first one there was nobody on the line so I figured it was a political robo-call. Didn't answer the second time and no message was left.

FFS, I still watch VHS tapes. I'd put the O/U on my smartphone ownership at 2014. It's more likely than not that I will get a smartphone when they start giving out smartphones for free.

Yes it was. He was trying to call using Skype. It took the 5th try before we were connected.

It is 2011..... not far off from 2012 yet I still find it odd, irritating and just ghey that peeps haven't yet discovered(or care)about the vibrate option on their cell phones. So annoying.

A few weeks ago at back to school night at our kids middle school we went to 6 of her classes and in every single one of them someone's phone goes off during a teacher presentation. uggggggg

Also of note...some poker players have really cheesy and pretentious ringtones and they routinely let 9 others hear them

I never have my phone on a setting other than vibrate, which makes me miss a lot of calls when I am at home and it is in another room.

That's because most people are attention whores, and think that others are impressed that someone would call them.

hahaha. I took one similar a long time ago, still remember it (sad):

I lost a TON to this guy. A TON.

(he 3b pre, then b/3b called my cap on the flop. turn 6 river 6 and he c/c the river. BTW THAT ISNT AN ACE OF SPADES ON THE FLOP.)

Brutal. I had quite a history against my villain:

First time we faced off, I c/r his flop c-bet on AT7 with A2s. The field cleared out and he called, HU to the turn. I bet, he called. River 2, I bet, he called and got all mad, flashing some better ace I guess.

So the second time, I raised his limp with KJ. Flop JJ4. He c/c. Turn 9. He c/r, I 3-bet, he 4-bet, I called. He bets the river dark. It's a T, I call and he shows JT.

That would have been the bad beat I shared, but it was a 3 outer (plus chops) so it wouldn't really count.

It's this third hand that got me. I cap QQ preflop with one guy all in and the drooler taking everything to the face with JTo. So it comes A22 and the all-in guy looks at his neighbor and shakes his head (this is real, he doesn't have an ace). I bet the flop, bet the turn J, and on the river J I check and cry-call.

He tells me this is my payback for rivering him with the 2.

I enjoyed the fact that he nodded his head and still called.

I spent 5 minutes trying to think of a witty retort but all I can come up with is this:

My goal is to have less connectivity with work, not more. I magnanimously gave up my work laptop when someone else needed one on short notice and then neglected to request another from IT.

That was 5 years ago.
11-03-2011 , 12:49 PM
not about being connected, i have to test websites on mobile devices. i actually still don't use it much, i'd guess much less than most smartphone owners. but yeah i agree the idea of being more connected, more available, etc, has more negatives than positives, though sometimes it is nice.

I've had to return to work at night more than once because someone traveling in Europe wakes up in the morning and suddenly decides they want a slide with XYZ data on it for an 8am meeting. ffffuuuuuuuuuu

Those are basically the only times I wish I could work from home.

Very sadface that my 8/16 hand was moved to small stakes. I like the medium stakes people.
11-03-2011 , 02:49 PM
Is the feeling mutual?

Would you say Bighurt is butthurt?

There's gotta be a cutoff somewhere. If we start allowing 8/16, then 6/12 people will post, then 5/10, and soon we're microstakes.

Gotta give the Small Stakes forum the chance to have (especially live poker) content there too.

MSLHE is, if you'll read the sticky, for 10/20 through around 40/80 or 60/120, though the high stakes forum is for all practical purposes dead, so we will allow bigger hands here too.

EDIT: There are times when we won't move 8/16 hands, but yours was a pretty beginners-ish hand (Jesus, man, raise the flop FFS) and more in line with SS type stuff.

Though judging by most of the threads in here the past year or two, I'm not surprised one would think beginners hands belong here.

A little butt hurt. Lol, just kidding.

I wasn't sure what the stakes line was, no problem. Also, is it very bad to wait for the bets to double to pop it with a very strong hand? Would it be different if I held K6 on A66 rainbow?
