It's $6 rake...

The 1st Friday of the jackpot games there were 3 each of 40 games going. I played in the JP game as it seemed way the better game. By Sunday, they had 1 non jackpot game going, which I sat in for a bit. It was all the break even nits, complaining that "its tough enough to beat the $5 rake, so why pay an extra $1.". Meanwhile all the action folks are in the jackpot games. That game broke a little while later when it got 5 handed and the nits didn't want to play s/h.

Much better to play in the JP games...

Sounds like a good thing. Insta-isolates nits off to another game!

Holy cow, I just read the last page of that thread. I'm still confused as to whether the Taj is the toughest 20 game in the country or the easiest.

Here's some low-content.

Today at Bay101 20/40:

UTG limps, folded around to SB/BB who complete/check.

Flop is KKQ.

BB bets, UTG calls, SB folds. BB and UTG know each other and decide to check it down.

BB flips over one card, Q.
UTG tables A9.

Turn is Q.
River is 4.

BB turns his Q back over and tosses in both cards. Dealer insta-takes the cards, puts them in the muck and awards the pot to UTG.

I'm in 9 seat next to dealer and thought that dealer mis-awarded the pot and say to him "wha, wait, he had a full house, you messed..." Seat 5 insta-corrects me and points to UTG and says "that guy had a flush".

I nod my head and tell dealer "Oh, I thought you messed up." He smirks.

Only at Bay101 do you find 3 people who can't read their hands at the same time.

Actually thats hilarious. I hate it when friends softplay each other. So terrible for the game. People shoud play at different tables if they dont like taking each others money.

I saw an old lady sexy her daughter in a 6/12 game one time. mother-daughter action is pretty hot, imo.

All kidding aside, Ben is a world class degenerate.

First time I ever met Ben we were playing 40 and somehow it was brought up that he went to college and fish asked where he went and he said San Jose St. Talk about taking metagame a bit far.

Will attempt to confirm in a couple of weeks. I'm bringing dmark with me, who I think you might know. Who is unfortunately the least degen ever.

DMark carries a purse.

This is true. Dmark will not be a part of aforementioned degen activities, we'll find him a nice afghan and some Lawrence Welk and sneak out the back.

3bb per hour @40hrs --> 1bb per hour @160 hrs ... not complaining though.

fwiw, that greekguru guy had like five posts when he started his thread. now I think he has more than me. I'm jealous of both his expert play and number of posts.

This was right after the GC murder. I'm actually worried about being followed home and robbed.

I don't know why he'd do that when all the Stanford folks who've self identified themselves there suck while the only SJSU person I know plays fine.

6 plus 1 dollar tip so i call it 7 dollar rake.

Now all the games are jackpot only, sometimes we try and get a vote on the table to make it a non jackpot game during non superjackpot hours, but the fish slowly get up and leave the game for a jackpot game.
05-30-2008 , 01:49 PM
it will be all jackpot very soon, no one will play the non-jp games. this is exactly what commerce wanted and really it's a testament to how good the games are. if the games were nitty/tough there would be enough players up in arms to at least cause a fuss and keep it from happening so easily. the ease with which it's transitioned to all jp is further proof that even the bad tags are fish and they like the jp. so basically just live with it parker, accept it, and keep crushing.

Just a note that today is a "super pay day", or "30th of the month Friday", on which every person in the civilized world who actually has a job will be receiving a pay check. I cannot confirm that this matters much at 20/40 and above, but down at 6/12 days like this are freaking out of control.

As for Ben being a degen, I will relay a textual exchange:

Me: "Will be playing a lot the next few days"
Ben: "gunna b drunk alnt this wknd, doubt ill play"
Me: "nh"

This means you won 40BB in 120 hours, right? yeah that's less good but still better than me.

The Commerce 40 games really really sucked dogballs last night. It really feels depressing and weird when I discover there are at least 3-4 players at the table better than me. Now I know what the fish feel like.

point said players out to me. dollars to donuts they arent as good as you think.

here's one:

40 live. i have KJo btn. c/o A2C openlimps, i raise, sb who is also a fish calls, but then when bb folds decides that he also wants to fold by saying "oh wait it's raised?" and reaching for his chips all confused like. he's already tried to shoot this angle like 3 times, and got away with it once. so i say "no chance" and have to practically hog tie him to stop him from mucking his cards and taking his chips back, floor is called over, chaos ensues, etc, etc, somehow they rule correctly. 3 to the flop:

JsJd9h. check, donk, i raise, sb c/3s, call, call.

turn 5d, bet, call, raise, call, muck.

river 2d. donk, call. his 9d4d is good and everyone smiles because the nit gets what he deserves for insisting there be some sense of rules, order, and decorum in a 40-80 game.

great way to make a living.

Also, do fish really feel like fish?

It never occurred to me that this action could be an angle shoot. In my game players universally get away with calling one bet (from the small blind or otherwise), then realizing it was raised and pulling the bet back. Like, to the point that trying to stop it would be almost unimaginable really....

Well the problem was in this case that mike raised, the SB threw in another 4 chips to go with his SB, and BB folded, then with action behind he wanted his bet back. Mike absolutely did the right thing, I was BB and wouldn't have folded if SB had thrown in 2 chips legitimately not knowing it was raised.
