Live 20. Standard villain opens button. Little too loose, little too passive, probably a way tighter range than optimal OTB though. SB (unknown basically) calls I call with 66 of red.

765ss

SB donks I call only. I figure most of the time with overs she will peal if I just call, but fold if I raise. My plan is for a raising war to break out, or to raise the turn. Button calls.

SB bets turn dark. I consider a dark raise to explode his brain but realize his chips probably get bagged up in that case.

9r

I call only....button calls.

2d

SB bets. I call only....

How bad was this?

I am seriously confused as to what you hope to accomplish by not raising. Btn overpair is never folding, but you cant backcap with enough semi-bluff combos to induce action on the turn. Just raise and hope btn 3bs an overpair or sb caps two-pair or pair+sd combos.

Ok I see you want a peel, but I think even a lot of overcard combos will fold with the exception of As, Ks type stuff and I think its fine to fold those out.

I agree with Mitch about the flop. Strongly agree. But once you get to the turn the way you do I like call/call. Also, given that you never actually raise, does this count as a slow play- doesnt slow play imply that you come to life and raise at some point

Did SB's head explode anyways when you rolled the nuts?

So my figuring was that her button open is way tighter than you'd expect and therefore is more weighted towards overpairs (that will raise) and ace highs (which will call). I don't think JTo is in her range.

Also....in my experience SB donks here are usually strong draws. I figured a "safe" turn card raise would be going in with me having a lot more equity.

But I felt dirty still n

Tough being in the middle and not wanting to lose anyone / at the same never finding a spot to raise.

Turn seemed like it to me ...

I wanted to raise the turn but that 9 is just a kitn. To be clear I'm not slow playing anymore on the turn. At that point I'm not raising because I won't fold to a 3-bet and honestly think that makes calling down more profitable.

I'd like the flop call to get some action here if there weren't so many cards that kill our plan on the turn. Were you still raising when a 3rd spade hit for instance? Knowing that it would shutdown action except people who had a redraw or a stronger hand?

That's the morale of the story here. Expert slow play on a board where over 1/3rd of the turn cards in the deck will prevent you from making expert turn nut raise is a bad idea.
