Oaks 30. I'm in the BB. Villain in the SB is a thoughtful TAG.

Two loose-passives limp, decent player limps, TAGfish in CO raises. SB smooth-calls. I squeeze my cards and see K3 -- with that many players I'd call for one bet on the button, so I'm in. The limpers all call.

Flop 832

SB check, I check, limpers check, CO bets, SB calls, I raise to clean up my outs. The loose-passives call and the decent player folds. CO calls, SB calls.

Turn 832 3

Gin! SB checks, I bet, first loose-passive calls, second one and the original raiser both fold. SB raises! I 3-bet. Loose-passive #1 drops out, SB calls.

River 832 3 9

Yeah raising to clean up outs is one of the most overused concepts in lhe. If you raise the flop everytime you flop a pair in lhe against a normal pfr range an flop cont bet into large field you will be leaking away too much money to ever win. This is one if the worst examples of cleaning up outs since u have the big Ks reverse dominated so you are essentially trying fold A3 out. Hardly worth the investment.

I am still not sure what the river question is.

Let me reframe the question: What do you/should I put the SB on?

Well if he really is a thoughful TAG your turn 3 bet is a bit of a spew, but since he just called the 3 then you have an easy bet on the river since A3 shouldn't raise and if it does you need to change your read from thoughtful TAG to giant spewtard.

Patiently wait for SB to check. Then and only then do you bet.

As others have mentioned you are not "cleaning up outs" on the flop as you have big kings reverse dominated. Cleaning up outs would be when you raise with KQ hoping to fold out K3.

Dang phone posting is slow

I suppose you could find a fold if SB never gets out of line. I much prefer a call.

clearly you put him on a range of hands that you're a favorite against because you 3b the turn, in which case thinking about not betting the river is just being results-oriented

I guess A-3s is in his range as well as all boats, but so are many other hand that you beat. Call and don't forget to say nice hand when he shows you 2-2.

I was villain in the OP. Hey Allen, I pretty much decided after you 3bet the turn that I was gonna pwn you by calling check raising you on the river instead of 4bet/betting. If I did that instead the hand would be less noteworthy I guess. I had 88. Allen called my hand before making the call.

DC, why would u ever play your hand like this? You have him coolered and if he has a full house you might get to bet/3b the river.

Meta purposes of check raising someone on the river? I have contradictory reasons. I put him more on 22 or 33 than a naked three actually because of his flop raise and 23 83 never crossed my mind and made an assumption only 5 bets go in w/ 22. If he had anything else he has to call and can't fold.

sb should donk the flop

Agree. Even though there are many players and a preflop raiser you need to donk this because the chance that it checks to the raiser is like a million percent and then he can easily check behind that random board.

sb should 3b pf.

Eh. I think this is close. 4 players in already and out of position.

There are no positive metapurposes to making this play. Pf is fine. I would bet the flop at oaks on this board.
