Somewhat low content. 15/30 live, the table is full of loose passive droolers.

EP raises, MP who has maybe 3BB left cold-calls, SB three bets (probably KK+), I reluctantly call from the BB with JJ, EP calls, MP calls.

Flop is J 6 5

SB bets out, I raise, EP folds, MP calls, SB calls.

Turn black Q, I forget which suit.

SB bets out again, I raise again, MP calls about half the bets and is all-in. Now SB pulls a move I have never seen before: he just calls the turn bet, then immediately puts out another bet and says he's smoking the river. WTF.

River is the deadly K.

Now what?

Fold River

If we are positive that SB has KK or AA it is close PF. Calling 2 into what will be 12 SBs with not much extra cheese from MP coming and RIO everywhere. Not sure the math on this...

Anyway, next hand

Fold pre.

Fold to the river smoke. Given your read, you can beat nothing but the heartless AA, which he would be crazy to smoke bet the river without.

piggity--

If you're confident in that read preflop, then fold. If you're still confident of it on the river, then you beat 3 of 9 combinations of {AA, KK}, and you're getting 12ish:1, so you need to be pretty sure he wouldn't be way disproportionately unlikely to do that with nonheart AA to fold. I'd call.

All that said, often when people report reads like the one you claim to have on this guy preflop, they're either exaggerated or results-oriented reports. Not to doubt you specifically, of course.

That's a fair point, and turns out I was wrong anyway. Thinking more about it, it's probably too restrictive to rule out JJ/QQ/AKs even for super passive guys in the SB.
