Playing 20/40 at Bellagio last night, and the place is packed. 41 people on the list. I get up for rest room and coffee break and come back 11 minutes later..... There is a guy in my seat, there is a clear box 5 inches in height that is over my chips.... He is "playing over" and I'm forced to wait until next big blind for him to get up.... TD says.... We thought you were going to be gone a long time????? An hour later, I've seen him do this 2 more times in 60 minutes?? He is 30 down on the list ...this can't be right.

yup. dems da rulez @ da B.

not sure about having to wait till the BB. even if you have a missed blind button, I think you can technically kick them out whenever.

Borgata has play over rules as well. Seems odd that they'd let a guy buried on the list to do it, though; maybe no one ahead of him wanted in?

It's super standard, if you want to post in mid position you can force him out but you probably aren't going to do that and courtesy would be let him play til the blind.

right that's what i meant heh. floors don't really take tips back east from what i've seen/heard, whereas it's almost standard out west. bellagio has been known to have tipping/greasing shenanigans for a while now

Tipping the floors in cali is super standard, and at bellagio too if u are cool with the floor and you wanna jump the ridiculous board ldo.

Also...why do the play over boxes have little holes in them?

Not sure that tipping actually matters in this situation, fwiw. I think it's first come first serve when it comes to playing over, afaik.

turns out this person follows another blog I write on....Received this on PM a short while ago........I'm the ____deleted--- at Bellagio. I'll make sure they are aware that play over must leave immediately. We don't give any preferential treatment to our regs versus our visitors. If you need any assistance with anything at Bellagio feel free to message me. Thanks.
very decent reach out ...

I'm confused as to what you're actually complaining about. The fact that they let people play over or that you had to wait for your blind?

As other peoe has said if you wanted your seat back all you had to do was ask. The "polite" thing to do is to normally just wait for blind since you're not going to play anyway. If you want to post just make the guy leave

Hi Everyone:

Not only is what Donkey states to be correct, but this has been the policy for years and years.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi DjSkyy:

Just to clarify, this statement implies that they will move you up the list, and those days ended a long time ago.

The plastic play over boxes are not designed for poker games. Those holes are designed for desk top stuff like pens and scissors.

Best wishes,
Mason

Zoom, I was in my seat for hours, had a sizable well thought out playing stack, and was gone for only a few minutes..... Not even an orbit. I can see it if a few orbits went by.... I think 2 hands out if the seat does not get covered...

Do you think you were lied to when someone said they thought you were taking a break?

I assume this is the first time you've played somewhere with a play over box and just don't like the practice in general. Seems like a weird thing to get upset over

Had you missed a blind? If so, then it seems reasonable that someone might have thought you were going for a while. Maybe they were wrong, but what harm? It sounds like you had the option to either pay your missed blind and rejoin immediately or wait for your BB. All that seems fair. Not exactly sure what the problem is on your end.

If you hadn't missed a blind and the playover was costing you hands you'd already paid blinds to get, I could see being upset. I've never seen that happen. Ever. It usually takes a bit for the new player to get called, box brought, etc.

I wonder how the issue of paying time is dealt with here
Bellagio Play Over follies Quote
06-15-2015 , 06:32 PM
All ten players pay time and the extra time is added to the next pot

wow that sux. at the borgata, a SEAT pays time (not a person). so if play-over-person pays time, the person coming back into the game doesn't have to.

conversely, blinds are paid by the person. so the person who is playing over can't play w/o posting if the original seat owner gets up mid-orbit

Zoom, the guy was 30 down on the list..... I could see if it was the next player or two coming into the game, but there were over 40 names on the list. What if 8 players were carrying boxes and jumping in and out every time someone got up? I paid my blind, and my time was left in front of the stack. At Borgata its usually 2 blinds before they do anything; this was not even an orbit. Finally, you play in the 10 man game at Bellagio...I'll look for that game.
.......and not a big deal, just shocker that seat was taken in just a few minutes...

Um, if a nine man table as a play over that equally ten players.
