Really loose, moderately passive live 10/20 game. Hero has been “getting lucky” a lot by creating big pots with AK and then betting TPTK like it might be the best hand.
We're eight-handed here. From early MP, hero limps behind an EP limper with Q
J
. Raising might have folded out KJo, but no other hand that dominates me with this crew. Sound Effects Man, a bald and otherwise rough-and-tumble looking middle-aged man who has been, I swear, farting and making sports car transmission noises and beeping like the Road Runner all evening, limps. He's not good at poker. Straightforward, relatively tight button raises. Both blinds call, EP calls, I call, SFX back-raises. Button just calls, and it's called around to me. I can't recall that I've ever had a chance to back-raise a back-raiser before, and I cap because I think it will feel cool to do so. It does feel cool. Six to the flop. Meep meep!
Flop: (24 SB) 4
6
7
It's checked around to SFX, who bets. Button calls, SB calls, BB folds, EP calls, I'm getting 28-1, so of course I call.
Turn: (14.5 BB) Q
Checked to me, I donk, SFX mutters and calls like he might have what used to be an overpair. Button folds, SB calls, EP folds. I have a brief vision of winning this monster with the fierce high-card power of QJ.
River: (17.5 BB) 3
SB donks. Hero?
I'll save the river thought process for later, if there even is one. Is the preflop cap fun and marginally profitable, or just fun?
