IŽve always called in spots like these but raising also looks good. If I call I almost always call down but many villains wonŽt keep barelling when peeled on this flop. If I raise I call down a 3B unless draws comes in (since I think I will get 3B by TP+ and many draws!), if called IŽll either take a free card or free SD.

How do you play it and why? Assume villain is a solid LAG/TAG and opens the SB ~65%.

10/20 Limit Holdem
5 players

Pre-flop: (1.5 SB, 5 players) Hero is BB 4 T
3 folds, SB raises, Hero calls

Flop: 9 K 4 (4.0 SB, 2 players)
SB bets, Hero ?

-It's my opinion that agg LAG/TAG SB stealers continue on the flop and turn too often.

It's almost like clockwork.....open wide out of SB, bet any flop, if called on the flop bet most turns. I like to punish that by waiting to raise the turn with a wide range of holdings.

Sometimes with bottom pair here I just call down. But usually I call the flop and raise the turn. I do this with sets(assuming I didnt 3bet pf), two pairs, pairs, flush draws, OPENSDraws, gutshots, air somtimes. Of course I adjust based on my opponent, as I wouldn't raise too wide against people who are more tight and selective. However, I think it works well because they can't really put me on a narrow range, but also so often they miss and have nothing too. I think this style boils down to manipulating the power of position.

I find that it usually takes the opponent a little while to adjust to my style. Adjustment can be that they steal less often, which is obviously good for me. Alternatively, sometimes they decide to not continue on the turn as light, which can also be good as it can give me free cards or a chance to steal with a bet. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to tell if they are checking to give up or checking to get to showdown cheap/ induce bluffs, but I think that I can get a feel on that too.

Basically, I try to make it pretty tuff for SB to steal the blind from me and win by continuation betting blindly. Also encourage them to give me a walk more often.

i usually call the flop to induce a turn bluff.

i dont mind raising on occasions. Id be more likely to do it against good/thinking opponents as there are a tonne of draws and i cant think of alot of hands i have that peel this flop that wont be continuing on the turn

ya, i guess i mean my range wont be that wide. Although a raise with the hand you mentioned is fine sometimes. Like Js8x maybe. I would usually try and play Ax as a bluff catcher

Although if you are calling and raising the turn with most draws and pairs then that changes my initial post as our flop peel range will be much wider
