No, but like you I have my own opinion based on my experience. I like the freerolls. I have made good money off them. And the only reason I dont play them is I stay up late playing to the wee hours of the morning and sleep past them, or forget about them. Otherwise I play them. Based on what I have seen with many of the regs I see playing at these same hours, I would tend to say many don't play them for the same reasons. Another reason may be inability to change style of play for tournaments in a profitable manner. Especially for freerolls.

If you cant beat them that's not my problem. Switching from cash to tournament style play is not for everyone.

There was never anything incoherent about any statements I made. There is however a real bad case of reading comprehension. I suggest you finish school.

In addition, we will extend your status on a month-by-month basis from January through the end of September, provided you continue to earn at least 10,000 VPPs every month, missing no more than one month of 10,000 VPP accrual.
Is this ever going to change ?

Well, after reading this thread I decided (against my better judgment) to play a couple of freerolls just to kill some time. I don't know how some people can make the claims of playing thousands of mtt's because of the time involved if you are successful.

The two I played, one was the PCA deposit one, which I was barely even able to register to. I finished 87th out of 10,000 (the max) players. Cashed for a whopping $3 and it took me 6 hrs 35 mins. I simultaneously played in another one. Finished 16th out of 2600+ and cashed for $7 and it took 6hrs 15 mins. While I didn't win, I felt that I was in the running most of the time and did cash. But nearly 7 hrs, and won, for about $10 profit?? Not a good investment of time vs cash games, which is my preference.

We need more incentive for Gold and lower players besides freerolls that take a whole day to play. In one, if I'd finish 3rd, it was only $40 and would have taken another whole hour.

Freerolls should be more turbos, shorter time clocks, etc in order to speed them up at least. Please speed them up for those of us who don't have 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week to play freerolls.

Thanks...

You dont need to finish school. What you really need is to do something about those memory issues.

Hell you like them. Hell you forget about them!

Anyway, if you decide to go back to school anyway, focus on logic reasoning!

I really wish Supernova and Supernova Elite was based on any 12 months rather than a calendar year. I just started playing regularly on Stars in late October and wanted to make a push for Supernova but I still have 40k points to clear, which wont be easy to get to by the end of the year for me.

Also, now that Stars has increased the points needed to get to some of their gift certificates, which used to be the best value, I am seriously thinking about going back to FTP to clear the $500 bonus they have offerred me instead.

It be nice if Stars had something in December to keep me going but nothing of value this month it seems.

Hi Scottyy

I'm about to make my move for Supernova come January but if you really hammer 0.50/1 and 1/2 fixed full ring games vpp rates which is what is being rumoured I will have no choice but to go elsewhere.

I know it will make no difference what I say but I hope you wont be punishing some players with any changes. Here's hoping that any changes will be for the better.

Thanks

Scottyy

Not sure if you're still following this thread, but EV of SuperNova $75k freeroll now officially lower than the weekly EV was for the $50k freeroll in 2008.

Last week 2,339 entrants, EV = $32.

I don't have the numbers, and I realize no one promised this would stay constant, but the weekly EV of freeroll has trended down every year, from ~$100/week to a likely $20-something/week in 2010. (This is based on IMO a very reasonable assumption the avg # of Novas will grow in 2010 as it has every year.)

I won't get into the debate as to whether this weekly freeroll should be scrapped/gutted, but if you're going to spend millions of $s on promo budget on freerolls, please consider bumping the prize pool again to at least keep the $ value PER SUPERNOVA roughly constant and worth our time.

The argument of "we spend lots of $s on lots of exciting promos like WSOP seats blah blah blah" doesn't really hold water here IMO. if I go for Nova in 2010 I'll pay the same amount of $s as I did in 2009. My decision as to whether to do that is in part based on whether the EV of Nova goes up, stays the same, or goes down. If you add more $s to the Battle of the Planets promo or have a bigger budget to hire bring on pros to your stable, that has no direct $ value to me.

Bottom line - the weekly EV of Nova has gone down every year, perhaps even in 2009 with the bump to $75k since # of Novas seems to be up ~40-60%.

Thanks

Has Stars made any change/update in the past based on costumers suggestions?

Ummmm, because evidently the longer structure for a freeroll isn't very popular? I think the 10k players who signed up for this were still enjoying their fill of poker even though there wasn't a lot of money involved.

Give me a $2 step entry. Call it sub 1 or whatever. Stars lacks in the steps game compared to partypoker. Be nice to have some cash steps too. Would go back to Party right now if I could just for this reason...

Yes, they did.

Scottyy is very reasonable if you have read some his posts/replies. IMO, players (including myself) always hope Stars could give out a little more/extra, in many of cases, stars is willing to do so but they want to make sure the extra will be well spent. Though, good suggestions will get the job done.

At the end, I do believe there are still much rooms for stars to give away some thing extra to players. They definitely can do more to either improve their VIP program or provide better incentive to cash players.

good luck very one!

it would be cool if the period for SN/SNE would be 12 month, not the calendar-year.
i restarted playing at stars and made about 20k points in november. i can easily play more but with the "poor" RB of platinum star i prefer playing on FTP.

also a step between platinum and SN would be a really good addition. maybe name it DiamondStar

Just an observation, but this would complicate milestones.

it can still be done in a rolling 12 months, or they can add career milestones. but honestly who cares, it affects a couple 100 people.
