betfair? anybody? betfair? anybody?

01-15-2008 , 06:14 PM
i look at raketherake, betfair has promotion for $5000 first deposit bonus. plus rakeback....sound pretty good.
i'm planning to do some bonus whoring, to increase my bankroll.
so i just wondering
6-8 table 50NL, if i put in 6 hr a day, how much of bonus would i expect to clear?
i can't do calculation, because
1. no clue about the traffic on that site
2. not sure when it's peak time
3. contribute rake.
anybody like to share some input.
also i can't find the information on their site, what's the max rake?

betfair has really bad software and apparantly their traffic is pretty bad..i haven't been there in a while , though.

software not good
01-16-2008 , 07:40 AM
Software is not that bad, just get used to it.
At that limit you should be able to play all day and evening 6 tables(European time), 8 tables going right now.

Added value is that they have leaderboards at all levels where you can win cash each month. Thats Cashgames, Mtt's and Sng's.

If you are used to play at sites that allow american players, you will find the site soft.

There's no question sites without Americans are softer. That's not necessarily because Americans as a whole are better players, but the difficulties with the UIGEA have scared off the fish...thus American online players tend to have more sharks and less fish among them. That doesn't mean every non-US site is softer than every US site (see Crypto), but as a general rule, most are.

avoid betfair..the traffic is pretty low
01-18-2008 , 05:39 AM
low traffic, bad software; used to be a lot better than it is now as the higher levels all have good regs; I used to play there lots but am now moving to other sites
01-18-2008 , 11:03 PM
yeah but they do offer RB..if only their software was improved and they had higher traffic..i guess that's the tradeoff though.

Its a ghost town after the americans got banned

Software is ok, its functional and doesnt look good, but hell it works fine and doesnt bug like hell like ongame.

Traffic isnt that great, but youll find 6tables going at any moment.

I only played nl20 there 3months ago and games were really really soft, even compared to other euro sites.

Low traffic, games are not very good. Software is crap compared to PS or FTP.
Difficult to multi.

That being said, Euro-only is news to me as well.

I can't see the problem with the software. It's pretty simple and functional.

Maybe it's the level I play at but there always seems to be plenty of competition.

Does anyone in this thread currently play at Betfair or are you just judging from a few years ago?

it was so sick, i spent so much time trying to get the funds back but it was pointless

This sounds very odd as Betfair is a well respected company in the UK. I can't see any reason for them to hold on to legitimate funds, you should definately try again.

i'll give em a call in the morning...we'll see what happens

It's a Euro only site and they take very serious action against anyone trying to play from outside their accepted jurisdictions.

If you log on from the usa expect to have your account frozen until you provide a notorized letter along with lots of other evidence confirming you reside in a legal jurisdiction.

It can take a lot of time and proof to get this kind of issue sorted.

I've been playing on Betfair for the last couple of months.

Plus points:

- Betfair give 30% rakeback
- The games are soft (and I mean really soft)
- Support is great (mega quick and very helpful)

on the flipside

- Software is poor (and I mean atrocious, no instant hand history even)

Traffic is actually fine, not FT or PS level, but no problem getting a game, in fact I sometimes have to wait for a table (6 max cash 20NL)

that or they just don't like the north american brothers taking their bloody money

Betfair software takes some getting used to. Traffic is low though. Played there for a month and not been too impressed. Didnt know about rakeback there

I play more at Ladbrokes Poker - 30 % rake back. Good deposit bonus up to $500. Cash game promotions too $14k WSOP packages plus cash this month. No US players but Canadians are OK.
Cash games are not too hard and euro peak times are best time for high traffic.
