Wireless network doesn't connect for 10-15 minutes? Wireless network doesn't connect for 10-15 minutes?

I have a Dell laptop with a 802.11n wirless card. I also use a dlink 802.11.n wireless router ("DIR-625 RangeBooster").

When I start my laptop it will usually take 10-15 minutes (or more) before it will establish a connection to my wirless network. Once the connection is established the connection is very solid and stable. As long as I leave my laptop on my connection will remain solid (even for days).

The only problem I run into is that it takes soo long to connect when I start my laptop up for the first time.

I've tried both Dell and Dlink support, but neither have been very helpful. They will assist me in establishing a connection, but not actually solving the problem from happening again.

Any idea why it is taking so long to connect at start up?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

i had a similar problem, and i googled and found something you can turn off that supposedly helped it connect faster. Mine wasn't taking 10 minutes, more like 2, but it was still annoying. i can't offhand find it via google or remember what i did though. it was turning off something that's used for servers, or something like that, that you wouldn't need on a home computer.

Cool, thanks for the tip. Does this ring a bell for anyone else that might be able to help me try to turn this "thing" off to see if thats the problem?

just try and upgrade your drivers as well as router firmware.

this is where i found that tip. it sounds like it was more meant to help cut seconds not minutes off internet connect time, but it can't hurt to try if you don't need what it does, which i don't know what it does. #4 on the list.

The firmware is updated to the newest version. How can I check the drivers to see if they are up to date?
