What is the Keepass key file for?

Hi,
Im using keepass and have it working fine using the master password login,but i would like to know what is the benefit of having a key file?

so you can use it on more than one computer? Not really sure what you're asking.

It's an added layer of security. If you use the key file, opening the password database will require the proper password and key file
