Best Buy has the D-link Wireless N Router (DIR 615) and the Linksys Wireless G Router (WRT54G2-CA) both for $59.99 Cdn.

Which is better?

The salesperson recommended the D-link but then she told me it took her an hour and a half to figure out how to do whatever it is that you do to secure it. But she also I spend $149 to have one of their teckies come and do it for me. Is it really that hard? I'm not a computer person but I can follow directions. I have a desktop computer and a laptop, both Dell.

I need this so instead of using my desk computer I can sit on the sofa with my laptop.

Either is fine. Only spend the $149 if you have an insane amount of disposable income or you're an imbecile. Routers usually come with pretty good instructions and are easy to configure.

I'd get the Linksys-Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router & run the Tomato firmware on it. Check the NewEgg reviews for details on how great this router is. It's the nizzles...

Get this. I've gone through about 5 different highly recommended routers, only to have them crap out me anywhere from 2 months to 9 months with frequent disconnects throughout. I've been going for maybe 15 months now without having to reboot my router (the wrt54gl with tomato firmware). I've heard many similar stories with this router too and never one complaint. Get this one with the tomato firmware over any other router.

Tomato Firmware

Personally, I would never purchase a router that couldn't run Tomato or DD-WRT.
