Hey,

I'm living in Istanbul and Full Tilt is blocked here. My friend told me I need to use a Virtual Private Network to gain access but he doesn't have any idea of how to do it and I wasn't able to find a good site when I googled "vpn" Anybody have a link to a reliable vpn I could use for this purpose? Thanks a lot.

I would test a few free solutions. Most major VPN providers will be blocked as well.

Try here:

If you can leave a PC on 24/7 at home while you're in China, there won't be a need for a paid VPN.

I provide dedicated IP VPNs for poker players for UK and Canadian IPs and generally answer questions on these forums about them.

My site is www.betsecure.net and I serve a decent number of 2+2ers

Let me know if you have questions and I'd prefer they were posted here to get more VPN questions answered publicly. These threads pop up every few weeks and I have stayed somewhat vague in the past.

Using your home computer based in the US is also a viable option if you have a decent upstream for your home connection. Windows has built in PPTP VPN server/client software, though a dedicated *nix/BSD box is more reliable. Let me know if you need links for configuring a Windows box as a VPN server.

OP,

I'd check if SwissVPN does the trick for you. It's only 6 swiss francs (about 4.2 euros) for a month.

This is quite common problem. Some countries have a low that prohibits play online poker. Technically isp-s (Internet service providers) block certain websites (for example www.fulltilt.com). The same thing can happen in universitis and other places.

The best way in case of poker is to order vpn (virtul private network) service from some solid company. There are free vpn-s also, but they are not suitable for poker, bacause your passwords could be stolen and free vpn services are often overloaded (you do not want to loose your connection with pocket aces)

In my contry (Estonia) Internet poker is also prohibited. I have searched for best priced vpn-s for a while and found that Strongvpn is the best. So for half a year I am satisfied with their service. You need package "3 city special" and it will cost you ca 5 USD per month. They also have good online helpdesk to help you to install the software."
