Im Looking to purchase a new computer and thought about getting windows vista home, or something like that, but all ive heard about vista is that it takes alot to run it as in processing, Ram, HDD,

As i play poker i run like 3 poker rooms at a time and will be running a heads up display (HUD) along side it,

What i want to know is some specs of other peoples computers who run vista and do the same sorta thing as i do,

Or

Can someone suggest some specs to me or maybe even a link to a computer, that will generate all my needs, Im more looking to spend down towards the lower market end,

Thanks in advanced

Any nongarbage modern pc will run vista fine. You'll probably want 2+gb of ram. Post some specs you are looking at and we'll let you know if they will do. Most likely it will..

I'd take it a step further and say you NEED 2 GB RAM or more. About a year ago I tried to go cheaper and bought a $700 Vaio with 1 GB RAM - slowdowns all over the place. Subsequent 2 GB Vaio worked great though at the time I didn't have PT3 yet. Should be fine at 2 GB RAM.

That computer looks surprisingly ok for the price.

Good things about it

-2GB of memory is probably enough for you
-Dedicated video card (important for vista's pretty features, in particular)
-Dual-core processor

Cons

-May only have 2 memory slots (which will both be filled) so you will have to replace the memory in the future
-Memory speed is not specified (probably on the slower side)
-Harddrive speed not specified (probably on the slower side)
-Processor may not be upgradable in the future
-Power Supply is generally poor on systems like this, so it may have to be replaced before anything else breaks (~$50 in the US, not sure about across the pond)

For basic computing, it should be fine for several years. With a memory upgrade, it will handle multitasking better. I would not expect any 3d Gaming on this, or heavily harddrive/memory intensive tasks. A large pokertracker database would probably have slow performance because of harddrive

monitors are essentially universal. It's kind of like asking if your couch works with your TV.
