trouble getting my 30 going trouble getting my 30 going

I have a Samsumg Syncmaster 305T, and bought this vid card:

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...CODE=CANEMSHIP

It says it has dual-link dvi and 2560x1600 so figured it'd do the trick.

So I started installing...everything went ok...cables, slots, sw driver install. But I'm having a few problems:

- Max resolution is only 1280x800. this is the max I can get whether I go to change it via control panel or through the ATI configuration wizard.

- My computer hangs during shutdown. Tried it several times and it hung everytime, including the last time where i left it overnight and it was still in same state in the morning.

- I have no sound (not sure its related, but sound worked fine before I started installing stuff).

I'm going to rollback my comp to previous image and try the install again, but am not too optimistic.

Does anyone have any suggestions here? should this setup work?

thanks

maybe you should some1 who knows about computers install the video card.
I mean if you first had sound, and your max reso is 1280x800 then there went something wrong obv.

I cannot say what went wrong, because i need to know
- your operating system
- drivers you used (did u try newest ati drivers?)
- bios settings
- your sound card (is it a sound card or is it a built-in sound on your motherboard?)

i would take the pc to a computer shop and pay a small fee, isntead of doing it yourself and *** your system up.

I'm running XP. Old sound and video are on the motherboard. I did a rollback using acronis, sound / shutdown problems are ok now with HW installed but no drivers yet installed. Going to give it a bit more effort before taking it in.

I'm was using drivers that came with the CD but I'll check for newer drivers and try those.
