Setting up a 2nd Independent Monitor.

Ok guys, some questions I am hoping you can help me with. I currently have an IBM Thinkpad Lenovo T60 and run an Acer 22" monitor on the side. I am looking to possible add a second monitor, but don't have any available ports to run a second monitor through. I've heard that some monitors can run through a USB port though.
So I guess to recap a few questions:
1. Could my Laptop even handle this ? If not, what are some good Laptops that this would work with?
2. Would I need a new Video Card or some type of adapter to make this work?
Any other tips would be great because Im a real amateur when it comes to this.
