How do I take a screen shot from my computer monitor?

I know this question doesn't exactly fit the description of this forum but I figured enough smart people would read this that I would get the help I need.

If there is a better place then could a Mod please move it. Thanks.

Press the Ctrl and Prt Scr button on your keyboard at the same time. Then open a program like MS paint or photoshop and paste the image.

press Alt+Ctrl+Prt Scr if you want to capture ONLY the active window

just hitting print screen (without ctrl) works for post #2 way

Win 7 comes with a "snipping tool" that works well also
