windows menu : postgreSQL -> PGAdmin

Select postgreSQL 8.3 (locahost :xxxx) or 8.4 (depends on version)
to make it active then right click on the same line, right click Backup globals and select a file name. it will save a global .sql file

Will give you the instructions to restore or you can PM me when you want to restore will help you online with IM (messenger or skype).

That's sounds overly complicated.

All I do, is open PT3, I click file>>backup>>check off all relevant check boxes.

After some time, PT3 will make a single file.

When it's time to import, you open PT3, click file>>backup.

Voila! I tried it various other ways and they were either too complicated, or they didn't work.

I'm not trying to step on your toes AceMuncher, but it just seems like your instructions are quite over-complicated when I've backed up my PT3 very easily with very few steps.

Kristiano: If you're using Pokerstars, don't forget to save your player notes file!!! If you're like me, you've got a ton of them.

Ahhh nevermind, I just saw the date on this thread. It's probably too late now

You should read the FAQs for PT3 on how to do it.

Or check on their forums, or in their thread in here to make sure you backup all you need.

Iceage0121 I gave the general way to dump/restore a PostgresSQL database ITT wich will works whatever version of software you are using since it saves the database as SQL commands.

If you found dumping a raw file and importing it back is the way you like it : I'm fine with it. When you will want to restore a database saved this way in the future over a different version of postgresSQL or PT3/HEM not compatible with your raw data ... you will know then which method was best to save it.
