Redundant FTP disconnect issue

I posted this in FTP answers thread but it is buried there, and I am at a loss and wondered if anyone is having the same issue I am.
Since the last update I am disconnecting a lot, and it always seems to coincide with a FT or after a few hours of play. It freezes, disconnects, and freezes all other applications running. I was on FT bubble of 3r and at 2 45 final tables and I was literally disconnecting every other hand. I have e-mailed FTP but have already tried:
Resetting router
Resetting Modem
Uninstalling and reinstalling FTP
Talked to ISP
Talked to Dell support
The only thing that is in common with all my recent disconnects is that it is only when FTP client is opened. Stars, HEM, AIM, IE and everything freezes. I can close FTP and everything else works fine, reopen FTP and every minute or two I disconnect from everything.
Anyone have any suggestions? This is costing me money and on Sat night cost me another 3r final table after booting me at least once an orbit.
I am going to go thru the steps again for my session tonight, resetting modem, router, uninstall FTP, restart system, reinstall FTP and see if that works but this last update sucks a big one and is buggier than all the other updates put together at least for me.

Wow hard to believe I am the only one having this problem when it is very very apparent it is a FTP issue.
Sigh

If everything disconnects that sounds like an overall computer issue. Why would full tilt make IE stop working? I mean it could if it really messed up your system but that would be far from normal. Usually if people have the client crash it's just full tilt that stops working.
How many times has this happened? Like every day or just a couple times? You said you restart your computer but also that it's after a while of having full tilt open. So, after the reboot you've got a few hours without problems? How old is your computer? Do you know the specs?

I have a 3 month old Dell Studio 1737 with 4g RAM and a 2.0 Intel Core Duo processor. It seems to happen at the same time I hit a final table, or at least after several hours and once it starts restarting doesnt help. I can have Stars, HEM, AIM, IE all running fine, once I open FTP it seems almost like it is using so much of my computer that it will not let anything else run, let alone run itself.
I am not a noob and have been around a while, have played a ton on FTP and never had this issue. I am going to try what the post above suggested, maybe that will help idk.
What is crazy is that I can play for 4-6 hours no problem but all of a sudden BAM disconnecting every few hands.
If it is a PC issue why would it only be when FTP is running? I have exhausted every resource and afaik my PC is functioning normally and my ISP has run checks and my cable internet connection is fine.
