Problems with Dell 30" Montiors turning on Problems with Dell 30" Montiors turning on

I bought two refurb Dell 3007 30" refurb monitors back in January after seeing a thread here in CTH about being able to get them really cheap through the Dell website. About two weeks ago one of them stop being able to turn on so I called Dell and after some time on the phone they sent me a replacement for it. Now today my second one won't turn on.

Was just wondering if anybody else has been experiencing this with these monitors. The power button on them is unique in that there's nothing to push. You just pass your finger over it and it must have some sort of sensor that recognizes your finger and turns the monitor on.

Trying to figure out if this is a common problem or if I just happened to get two bad refurbs.

This happened to me once. I just unplugged the power cord from the back of the monitor then plugged it right back in and it worked. Give it a shot.

Yeah, I tried that but it didn't work. I did finally get it to turn on but I can tell the sensor in the power button is going. It takes up to 5 minutes of trying to get it to turn on which definitely shouldn't be happening. The replacement they sent me is instant on as soon as my finger brushes across the power.

Has anybody had these for 2+ years yet?

I read about the button problems on them when I bought my 3007hc. It was the main beef with the dells. Mine quit working for about a week around 4 months after getting it but then started back again. Luckily it got stuck in the on position. I've had it about a year now. http://reviews.dell.com/2341/222-717...ascending=true Several talk about it messing up.

Mine's be fine for 8 months now. After reading this thread, I'm just going to use Windows "turn off after 10 minutes of activity" feature in the screen saver.

Thanks for the link. Will probably call sometime this week to try and get a new replacement for my second monitor since it's turning on and off but is acting up a lot. I'm glad to see it's a semi-common problem and not just mine.
