Problem with Vista: keeps hiding folders from my applications!

Attempting to setup the Cake Hand History Converter. To function, it needs to be able to input the converted hand histories into the local folder PT3 already uses. But for some reason, this folder only shows up in PT3, not when in the Cake converter option to direct input.
It is listed as Users/XXX/Appdata/local/
This Appdata folder doesn't show up when I open anything but Explorer. How do I make it visible in other programs, such as the Cake Converter?
Please, no jokes about "Just stop using Vista, problem solved"

On XP its: Tools > Folder Options ... > View > Show hidden files and folders. Vista should be something similar.

^ That is only for viewing the folder/files in explorer.... which Busto can already do
A couple things to try:
Make sure the path is actually the same
Make sure you are running cake as administrator

This should be showing up. Have you tried fully exiting the application first, verifying your show hidden files and folders setting is correct, and then restarting the application?
If that doesn't work, you'll want to make sure you have rebooted and possibly reinstall cake.

Another "show hidden files/folders" post?
Did you notice he already said he can see them in explorer?

Has anyone seen Cake work on these kinds of paths? Vista uses a lot of symlinks which may be unusable by programs that don't know how to use them. You are better off picking a different folder that you can get to with Cake than trying to use that one.

What Kerowo said. And yes, i noticed obviously. My point was that this commonly occurs when you haven't exited the application yet. In a lot of applications if you select to show hidden files and folders in explorer and you can now see them, but you are still in the application, it won't work until you exit the application. Thus i suggested he made sure he had restarted it.
I'd assume he's already done this, but you would be surprised how many posts we get in here from people that don't try simple things like rebooting. Try another directory like Kerowo said, Vista's linking is real weird, especially when you upgrade from another OS.

I have tried rebooting the applications.
I also made sure I ran the Cake Hand History Converter in Administrator mode.
I created a new folder in Cake to download the hand histories into, and was successful renavigating the hand history input into that folder, but the problem now is the output folder must be where hand histories are viewed by PT3, which is users/XXX/appdata/pokerstars. Is there a way in PT3 to change that location to something else?
