I'm going to sell my laptop and put my SSD in a desktop is that ok or will it fry without an adapter of some sort?

You don't need to open a thread for every single thought, most of the stuff you're asking is easily found with a quick Google search.

But yes, it's fine. You need a typical SATA connector found in all semi-recent desktops, and a 3.5" to 2.5" bracket to fit in a typical 3.5" slot found in your case. Or you could just stuff in there somewhere if you're not moving the thing around.

I made the transfer and the SSD worked but the Windows 7 crashes during the boot up. The last thing I want to do is to have to format my SSD and lose all my configurations and programs. How can I make this transfer?I'm already making a Macrium image of my driver so I can try all kinds of things and not lose any data

I'm told I have to remove the motherboard driver and the desktop will try to install its own. Any input is appreciated

No, reload fresh. Taking a hard drive out of one machine and then just stuffing it into another will generally cause you problems (if it works at all). You need to back up your hands, files, etc., and install your programs and all like setting up a new PC. It's a pain but there's even more hassle in cutting corners and having your system all screwed up. Some people might do it the hard way like this but you don't know what you're doing, so just do it right.
