I also agree with this.

Agreed, this would not hold weight with any poker site. But IMO if you write a bot, and its 100% your own work, I think it should be allowed. Obv tho this will never happen.

it doesn't really sound against the T&C. What if instead of intercepting the action and holding it, it physically unplugged your mouse for a few seconds? It's hard to argue that that would have an effect on gameplay logic or reduce the amount of human involvement necessary.

In fact maybe you could do that using no software logic whatsoever. Find an old-school wireless mouse that works over some crappy technology, like a walkie talkie. Also use wireless speakers on the same band. When the "it's your turn" beep comes through from the Stars client, it jams the mouse channel for a couple of seconds.

Now that sounds like a personal project worth working on.

I wouldn't want bots in my normal game. My guess most of those bots are either very tight or very good. Recently there was a thread about bots at ongame, that apperantly were beating mid and high stakes.

What I would like is a solution similar to what they have at gokgs ( a go server) where there is a section specifically for bots, where you can play against a bot if you like or have your own bot play. That would be a fun playground for programmers!

The biggest issue I can see with Stars is that they would feel that time loss = rake loss. I don't understand the timing tell blocking program idea at all. If your multi-tabling, your timing will be fairly random anyways.

Ye, that would be awesome. Google AI challenge style.

Maybe not an everyday playground, but annual competitions here: http://www.computerpokercompetition.org/

If timing tell program refers to my program, you must have misunderstood me. Its not about timing tells. The purpose of it was to slow me down enough to not making impulsive decisions when getting irritated and that sort of stuff. It had nothing to do with timing tells, although thinkning about it, it might have worked for that to. But as you say playing four tables or more your timing is prob. random enough anyway.

That said, I stopped using the program when I started to play more than six tables because it caused me to time down to often.

I've always had a few programming projects in progress, usually overly ambitious. I got tired of rarely following through with a finished product, so I decided to make a simple game and force myself to get it online.

Updates are sporadic but it has a pretty loyal (although small) player base - marketing is not my strength. It's actually mostly 2p2ers from PoG, some of whom have played almost every day for the past year+.

Ah, thanks for letting me know. Apparently that broke when I updated the menus recently (it's fixed now).

I spent most of my free time on it for about a month last year, and now I update it occasionally when I'm in the right mood and have some extra time. I've also ended up putting in some time running tournaments and tracking down cheaters. No idea how many hours total, but since I had to start from scratch learning most of the tools I had quite a bit of upfront work.

I'm using rails, git, capistrano, rspec, sublimetext (editor) and probably a couple others that I'm forgetting.
