My laptop is down, and I am at the library...

It got damaged, and I had to fix the fans, the monitor, and replace the memory in it... It can boot up, but I cannot access any drives... When I try to install Windows, it won't let me create a partition on the hard drive... Any help??? It needs to be soon, since I am limited to 45 more minutes... Thank you very much...

It won't let you partition it from windows or it won't let you partition it when you boot from the setup cd?

From the Gateway Startup CD... I just spent the last 3 hours taking it apart again, going over anything I missed, and found the problem... When it fell due to my 10 month old nephew (dad wasn't watching him whatsoever, lazy SOB), something got knocked around, and one of the connectors to the hard drive busted... I can't find it now, which means actual money to fix it... Good at simple hardware issues, but not installing new hardware (exception: memory)... Thanks for trying to help though...

Luckily, I got a crappy Compaq working again, with it's amazing 448MB of RAM, 1024/768 pixels, and lack to dual monitor...

If it's just the cable from the motherboard to the hard drive those are cheap. Or you could put the HD from the Compaq into the gateway.

1. Not sure, couldn't get the casing off all of the way to check... It looks like it busted right off of the plastic, though...

2. Tried it... That's the main problem with laptops, each one is different... It sucks b/c I had about 50 gigs of movies/TV shows on it...
