Is my 30" broken? Is my 30" broken?

I made this thread a few days ago asking for help buying a desktop that supports a 30".

I went out looking and at Best Buy the associate there told me that I didn't need such an expensive one and that a smaller computer would be the way to go for poker and 3rd party apps + 30" monitor. He told me that it already had a video card and supported 2560x1600 resolution. I got it and when I got home the monitor didn't work. The monitor turned on but after about 5 seconds of being on it goes into sleep mode.

I then bought this desktop on a 2+2ers advice from that thread linked above. I just got it delivered and the monitor is doing the same thing.

I had just got the monitor shipped from MA to AZ which had busted my desktop to begin with. Did it break the monitor as well? Where to go from here?

When you say it goes on for 5 seconds, does it show a picture? If not, maybe it's as simple as the monitor being set to the wrong input source (assuming it has more than one). You can try selecting it manually through its OSD.

I got it to work . It just didn't work with the dvd-i to hdmi connection for some reason and somehow had missed that this computer has a dvd-i input on it (whew).

Secondary question from a noob: How can I download stuff on utorrent faster? On my old computer I'd go at 1-2MB/s and right now I'm doing up to 20kb/s.

Thanks for recommending that computer . Nice surprise opening the box and getting a badass keyboard and mouse to. I don't understand how this thing is half the weight of all my other desktops. Pretty sweet though and loving it so far.
