Lost Audio After System Reset Lost Audio After System Reset

Hello. I made the mistake of doing a system reset and lost quite a few apps etc., but also lost my audio on my laptop. Its an HP sleekbook. I've tried system restore to no avail. Also tried to reinstall through legacy hardware, but I get an error message that "a device attached to the system is not functioning". Of course, I don't know which device that is.

I'd appreciate any help in restoring my audio. Thanks.

Check manufacturer website for an audio driver.

Older OS? Can't imagine 7 to 10 not auto-finding proper drivers.

Its windows 10 now. I think it was seven when I got it. I looked on the site and see some downloads, but none appeared to be for an audio driver.

Thank you for asking.

Its a laptop. HP sleek book Model 14-b017cl

Under Sound, video and game controllers I see
IDT High definition Audio COTEC
General/No drivers are installed for this device
Drivers/Unknown, not available, not available, not digitally signed
Driver details WINDOWS/system32/drivers/ksthunk.sys
Update driver attempts result in message "a device attached to the system is not functioning"
Rollback driver (seems disabled) can't click on it
details---Audio device on high definition audio bus
Events There's some long code under information ending with "requires further installation" also shows device installed several times with (stwrt64inf)

I also have
Intel(R) display audio
Under general it says This device is working properly

I also see IDT high definition audio CODEC in the list of programs and apps that got deleted when I did the reset, so it appears that's what I'm looking for. But I don't see it in the list of downloads available on the HP website.

I'm also wondering if my modem (from comcast) may be failing and that's a cause for the driver update failing. But obviously I'm pretty lost at this point. Any help would be welcomed. Bigly.

Still not working. I uninstalled it, and it reinstalled upon restart. Now under general I get:
"The device is not configured correctly" Code 1. So I tried to update the driver and it says "windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"
Followed again by
A device attached to the system is not functioning"

I've done a system test (F2) after startup and I hear the notes...so I dunno.
