I am looking for an alternative mouse as I seem to be suffering from RSI from mousing. I use my computer 65+ hours a week between poker and school.

I was looking at this http://www.weramouse.com

Anyone ever tried on of these or something similar?

If anyone has any other suggestions that would be cool as well.

Get a trackball.

Logitech Trackman Wheel

It'll take you a couple days to get used to it, but once you do you'll be faster than a mouse user and pain free.

Beware tendinitis in the joint at the base of your thumb.

I use a touchpad as the mouse really hurts me after a while. Takes some getting used to but much easier on my hands.

Thanks for the replies guys, I have a standard trackball mouse just haven't been able to get used to it. Still considering picking up one of the hand held mice, will report back if its any good.

I have a bad wrist problem thanks to playing PC games and poker for years on end.

I have the Microsoft Natural 6000 mouse and my wrist no longer aches when I play for long sessions.

I was also looking into this guy: http://www.evoluent.com/

Pretty cool ergonomic design and you can find it on ebay for $65 (wired version).

If it happens then it'll be time for another change but I can't praise the trackball enough.

Before I switched from the mouse I was having so much pain I couldn't sleep well. I'd just lay in bed and feel my arm throbbing.

I was definitely in the "I just can't use a trackball" camp for a long time but if the mouse is hurting you enough you'll learn. It really didn't take that long. For the first couple weeks I had the trackball and mouse both plugged in so I could just grab the mouse if I was getting too slow and backed up on the tables. Pretty soon I didn't need the mouse at all, if I plugged it in now it would field almost as weird as the trackball did then.

I have been spending 60+ hours on the computer for the last 20 years. I have serious issues and my Chiropractor has helped but I'd also recommend having multiple options available. Its called repetitive stress for a reason.

I use one of these at work since it allows me to switch from left to right handed multiple times a day.

At home I have a game pad for pokers and also 2 mice. One older ergonomic logitech that only works right handed and another that I can use for my left hand.
Getting a trackball is probably next on my list.

Everybody's different, but I've used one of these and I couldn't fathom playing poker with it.
