I'm a process nit - Can I delete more?

I'm trying to follow the advice in CTH about eliminating unnecessary processes. Task manager shows I am running 47 processes right now (it lists 15 in the main window, but when I click "Show processes from all users" it shows 47 processes?). I have a couple of applications which are set to run at startup which I am wondering if I can remove from the startup group. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
- RealTek HD Audio Manager
My Asus mobo has good onboard sound. Is RealTek Audio Manager just the configuration utility for the onboard sound? Can I remove it from startup and still have the onboard sound working as it is now, and just run the manager manually whenever I need to configure anything?
- Catalyst Control Center
I think a similar question for this application. I have a Radeon 4870 video card. Do I need to have Catalyst Control Center running in order for all the graphics stuff to work?

47 isn't bad for Vista. You can disable those two items and just re-enable them if it breaks something.
Post your HJT logs if you want more extensive help.
