Help on getting computer that won't lag and freeze up while 20 tabling Help on getting computer that won't lag and freeze up while 20 tabling

So I'm a complete computer noob, but I've been searching around the forum for about an hour and can't exactly find the things I'm looking for (It's obviously out there so links are welcome too

Anyways, I have a macbook pro that I bought 3 years ago, and have it hooked up to a 25 inch monitor that I play up to 20 tables on at once, along with having pokertracker running. I get tons of lagging and when I try to bring up an internet window to opr people and such I get the pinwheel effect for about 10 seconds and also the tables might freeze up during this time too. I'm looking to buy a desktop and am wondering what I need to buy to get the best performance out of tilt, stars, and UB running together along with pokertracker and browsing the internet. If possible I'd like to not have to build it but if that's a must I can hire my friend to help me once I have the parts.

Keep in mind poker is basically the only thing I will be using it for.

I'm willing to shell out, prolly up to 2k if necessary, to have something that will run smoothly. Thanks guys.

You can build a rig that'll handle all that for under $1k, anything over that would be complete overkill for your purposes.

Is it necessary to get one with an SSD and all that high end stuff I see talked about throughout other threads, or is a typical 700 dollar pre made desktop enough to get the job done?

You only need an SSD, not an i7.

yeah i7 is overkill for poker for sure, unless you'll be doing some gaming on the side

I'm looking for a new computer, but I'm on a tight budget. I know this is dated technology, but I'm looking at a unit with Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz, 3GB DDR3

Would that work being used ONLY for poker, max of 12 tables on FT and Stars with PT3 and HUD running? I mention having both poker clients running at the same time, because that really lags/stops my old Pentium.

Thanks

How much are you paying for that e7500 rig and what are the other specs?

Dell Vostro 230 Mini-Tower

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...74&lid=1544287

$327 delivered, I have not checked to see if it has room to add an SSD, at this price I could add one of those for the PT database.

Thanks
