Firefox Eating up 2 Much Memory Firefox Eating up 2 Much Memory

Alright, not too tech savvy but not a newb either (I did take Pascal/Fortran 10 years ago =) )

Windows XP SP2
Firefox 2.0.0.14 (Addons in Use: *******, NoScript, FoxyTunes, DownloadHelper, Flashgot)
1gig RAM
1.73ghz 2mb L2Cache, 533 mhZ

Alright, so I boot up my computer. First program I open is Firefox. I hit
CTRL+ALT+DEL and see the process taking up 30,000K under the Memory Usage.

After about 30 minutes, I notice when opening up new tabs there is a consistent and noticeable delay, which is annoying as hell. I do CTRL+ALT+DEL, and now see it taking 420,000K under Memory Usage. I have 6 tabs open, just forum pages. I've closed any tabs with Flash/Video etc. I google "Firefox Eating too Much Memory", and it seems I am asked to mess with about:config. I've done something with the boolean settings awhile ago, but I'm recalling bad memories.

Has anyone had any experience with this. I never want to go back to IE. Thanks.

Wait for Firefox 3 to come out. Or you can download the beta. the bad thing is that the plugins will not work. That is the easiest solution.

If you're using ******* then I assume you're using Filterset.G. There is a known memory leak when Filterset.G and Flashgot are used together. Foxytunes also has a known memory leak.

My recommendation: Uninstall *******, Filterset.G, and Foxytunes. Replace it with ******* Plus with EasyList.

You can use ******* plus and noscript in firefox 3 beta 5. Not sure about the others.

Go with firefox 3 beta 5 or Opera 9.5 beta 2, I'm trying out both of them and there both quite a bit faster than there predecessors, for speed especially the new Opera is damn fast, Review:
