Faulty laptop screen

I used my laptop this morning without any problems, put it in my bag and went for a walk.
When I tried to switch it on this afternoon I was greeted by this sight.
The laptop is less than 6 months old. The annoying thing is I bought in Thailand and the Toshiba website states that it only has a local warranty (I'm in Sri Lanka at the moment and fly back to the UK in 10 days).
Any ideas on what the fault is and how I can go about repairing it?
