how would someone go about doing that on a dell inspiron 9300? Its always getting in the way when i'm typing and stuff.

Or more specifically, Start > Control Panel > Mouse should get you where you need to be.

So I went to Mouse Properties, but there isn't an option to disable or turn off random touches while typing....

Under Mouse Properties, these are my options

Buttons/Pointers/Pointer Options/Wheel/Hardware

under hardware
General/Driver

General just says that its working properly but has no place to change anything

Driver doesn't have anything helpful either

ah, maybe i tried to uninstall this last month to try to get it off....

hmm.... how would i go about installing my touchpad's driver again?

The touchpad settings on my Dell have a "disable touchpad when external mouse is plugged in" option.
