Determining Disk(HDD) use or allocation

Helping a friend find out why and older laptops HDD is filling up. Isnt there something i can run that will show us how much is being used for OS , how much for video, music etc?
(EDIT, i cannot seem to delete this thread, even a minute or two after posting it.. why?( no responses at the time yet))
I found a program called WinDirStat that does what i want but i wonder if there is something better?

Why don't you mention the OS, for real now?

If Windirstat isn't what you're looking for, although I highly doubt there's anything "better" out there, try http://w3.win.tue.nl/nl/onderzoek/on...n/sequoiaview/

You can create quotas for every drive/user, limit certain file types and whatnot all with windows built in tools, depending on the version you're using ...
