Computer freezing while playing.. not sure of the reason..

So basically, over the past couple weeks while grinding, my computer has started freezing on me during sessions. By freeze, I mean that I can't move the cursor and the freeze-time tends to vary anywhere from a few seconds (and I get to make an action) to 20+ seconds (where I get disconnected on all tables). When it unfreezes, most of my clients (I run 8 different sites) have the "Re-connecting" stuff. I also run HEM and listen to music while playing (sometimes iTunes sometimes stream), all on Vista.
Basically, because everything freezes and then is back to normal, I don't know why it's happening and I don't get the chance when its happening to figure out what is causing it by process of elimination. I'm not even sure if it's an internet connection thing or if its a problem with my computer or one of the clients.
Sometimes the computer is entirely back to normal after a freeze with no problems for the rest of the day. But other times, the freeze causes everything to run at like 5% speed (ie. it takes FOREVER to close tables, close clients, try to re-start..etc.. like literally 20 minutes if I don't just shut the computer down manually..)
Note that the problem has still occurred with nothing but the clients running, and it seems to be happening more frequently. It also seems to happen more in evenings and later in the day. This makes me wonder if it has something to do with me having 8 clients open for most of the day and not restarting my computer, etc..
I have tried having the Task Manager (Process Tab) open to see if the CPU or Memory spikes for anything in particular during/after the freeze, and nothing irregular seems to happen.
On top of all this, I'm not very computer savvy so I don't really have a clue what to do. It costs me a bunch of money every time it happens and its at the point where I have to figure something out before I start putting holes in my walls out of frustration.
Any help is much appreciated.
