Looking to buy a new hard drive for about a 3 year old Dell Dimension 8400. I have never bought an internal hard drive before. What should I look for and are there any good ones I could find at Best Buy? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you have the manuals for the machine see if can find out what kind of connections are available; IDE or SATA. It might be old enough that it's still IDE. Why are you going with another internal HD instead of an external one? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

It burnt out/crashed - it was a friend of mine's computer and I'm taking it off his hands
