Checked out the Bitcoin ATM in Vancouver last night and was very impressed. The machine is super neat and very easy to use (my gf with no experience of bitcoin managed to use it no problem).

Markup is 7%.

You can either buy or sell bitcoins. To buy, you enter the amount of $$ you wish to spend on the touch screen, and the atm gives you a quote. You then scan in your wallet QR code (there is an infrared scanner on the side of the ATM), and insert your cash (it only accepts cash payments). The ATM then initiates a bitcoin transaction to your walllet. The whole process was super smooth and takes under a minute.

Not used the sell feature yet, but I know it pays out cash.

Edit: Btw, this is not a 'computer in a box' type setup, its a fully fledged ATM, which, until you look closely, is no different to a cash ATM.

If there are any programmers interested in getting their feet wet on a Bitcoin project, let me know. I'm working on an open source project related to distributed futures markets and would love to have more contributors. Bitcoin experience could be huge for resumes in the next few years, so why not get in at the ground floor?

Was planning on using Java based on bitcoinJ library. Seems like Android apps might be good for this. I am not an Android or Java expert, but I can get by enough.

Probably will need some web work for proof of concepts for it too.

I have some stuff up on google code, but very preliminary and I've been working on it since then without doing too much to it. If anyone is interested, I'll try to get to a good place and submit what I have.
