I'm going to be editing videos and need the FASTEST laptop for under 700.

Not a big fan of this. Also, not a big fan of Acer computers. Slightly underpowered Asus is way better than an Acer.

A couple of years ago I'd have agreed with you, but lately ASUS has been sliding, and Acer has been improving. My last purchase was an Acer gaming laptop at Christmas and it's been nothing but tip-top, and nothing could touch it for hardware in it's price range. The couple laptops I bought before that in the last few years were ASUS, and I agree that at the time nothing could compete.

To answer the OP: Looks ok as long as you're going to be ok with it's limited graphics card. The processing power is there for what you need it for. It's a pretty good deal, but I'd bet you could find a more capable unit for the same $ if you keep digging. If you need it asap then you'd be fine pulling the trigger now, too.

I have an ACER 7535g and it has been horribly glitchy, overheats and the HDD failed just after the one year warranty ran out.

The research I did when the faults started happening seemed to indicate that ACERs were indeed glitchy piles of rubbish. However if its a new model (I bought mine 2 years ago) then I guess they could have improved

I'm not 100% sure but a good graphic card is quite important for more than just high end video games - i.e. video editing (to a certain extent where you're dealing with 1080p or blu ray format). I made the mistake of getting an integrated graphic card, but otherwise a solid spec'd laptop, which has a hard time streaming high resolution videos.

And concerning the Acer vs ASUS debate: I've owned an Acer, Dell, and ASUS laptops. ASUS by far and away is the most sturdy and reliable laptop. But that's just my opinion. I don't know how much better Acer has become recently but I'd rather go with reliability over substance.
